Completing the triad of events that made mid-March a hectic time for the Municipality of Castillejos is the 2019 National Women’s Month Celebration. With the theme “We Make Change Work for Women” the celebration highlights the importance of women in the ongoing efforts to build a progressive nation. It is a National observation for the month of March but a more focused event was conducted in Castillejos held last March 19, 2019. The celebration began with a parade where public officials and government employees clad in purple t-shirts covered the grounds from Nagbunga barangay hall to the Municipal Park where they danced to several upbeat songs for a morning round of zumba. Joining the Municipality of Castillejos for this celebration were Vice Governor Angel Magsaysay, former Congresswoman Mitos Magsaysay, Mayor Dominguez, and the Sangguniang Bayan of Castillejos Officials.
Though the month of March is explicitly labeled as the Women’s Month, it’s a flawed logic to relegate to a month the respect and admiration that women have earned through years of struggle. Everyday these women work to provide as much as, if not more, than everyone else. This month, the Women’s Month Celebration, is intended to be a magnification of how women should be treated everyday. Not as accessories, not as toys, not as subjects of petty jests, but as an integral part of nation building who arguably do more forward thinking than most.
