The Municipality of Castillejos confirmed on Saturday, August 1, its sixth and youngest positive case of COVID-19, just two days after confirming its fifth case.
The patient, male, three years of age, arrived in the municipality from the province of Laguna on July 22, 2020 with his mother on-board a private vehicle. Per compliance with the LGU’s health protocols, the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team ordered the two to self-isolate and avoid unnecessary visitors. Unfortunately, on July 27, 2020, a number of relatives were reported to have gathered in their compound for a round of drinking and partying – activities strictly prohibited by the LGU for the duration of the quarantine period – where several relatives interacted with the patient.
On July 28, 2020, the mother and son underwent a Rapid Diagnostic Test where the results came back positive or “Reactive” for both. They were promptly escorted to the President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital where they underwent a swab test. On August 1, 2020, the results came back positive for the three-year old child.
While it has been reported that the patient is in stable condition, showing no other symptoms of the disease, both the patient and his mother will remain at the hospital where both will be under strict quarantine.
We would like to reiterate the importance of following the Quarantine Guidelines set by the LGU to minimize the spread of positive cases.
